Russian Microfinance Center (RMC) and International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) are pleased to announce the start of their cooperation in the sphere of improving financial literacy. IBLF and RMC pay great attention to the issues of financial literacy, and new level of partnership will be aimed at coordination of this performance in the sphere of microfinance for the lower-income population.

A special round table will be organized on this topic within the frames of the VII National Conference on Microfinance on 19-21 November 2008 in St.-Petersburg, and also interaction between Internet-portal «Microfinance in Russia» and new educational portal "Azbuka Finansov.ru" " (www.azbukafinansov.ru), which will be officially open on 24 September 2008.

The information on the topic of personal finances for teachers, students, adult population of small business, database of programs on financial literacy, as well as other useful information for organizations wishing to participate in improving financial literacy will be published on this site.

Cooperation between RMC and Pristav Debt Collection Agency

The partnership and cooperation Agreement was signed between Russian Microfinance Center and the Pristav Debt Collection Agency. The Pristav Debt Collection Agency within the framework of widening the sphere of services provision starts interaction with Russian microfinance institutions (MFIs). On behalf of the Pristav Debt Collection Agency the Agreement was signed by the General Director Arthur Aleksandrovich, on behalf of the Russian Microfinance Center – by the President Mikhail Mamuta.

The strategic aim of this cooperation is uniting efforts for supporting interaction between Pristav Agency and Russian microfinance institutions by developing and implementing joint programs aimed at reduction of past-due accounts and rising the quality of Russian MFIs’ credit portfolio. In the interests of cooperation development and effective information distribution to MFIs about possibilities and advantages of interaction with the Pristav Debt Collection Agency the partners agreed to conduct joint public events of importance (conferences, round tables, issue-related meetings, symposiums) on the issues topical for both sides.

Due to the signed Agreement Russian MFIs have a unique opportunity to use competent professional support to an organization specializing in handling problem loans.

To receive more information about this agreement and cooperation conditions with Pristav Agency, please contact RMC Vice President on Corporate Finance Rigo Ovchiyan (rovchiyan@rmcenter.ru).

The NU Action «Financial cooperatives for elimination of the impact of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Southern Osetia!»

The National Union starts the nation-wide action «Financial cooperatives for elimination of the impact of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Southern Osetia!» Financial coops as civil society institution and mutual financial aid organizations not only render financial services to their members but also participate in social programs, charity actions, support pensioners and poor people, contribute to development of sport and arts for children. Many times, when our compatriots were challenged by danger, cooperatives shared this challenge and provided help for those who had suffered and their families.

Today we propose to financial cooperatives to gather money and transfer it as a unified payment (10 rubles for each member of a cooperative) to the fund created by the National Union for people who suffered in the humanitarian catastrophe in the Southern Osetia. Thus we are planning to gather about 2 million rubles which will then be transferred where the most wanted according to the NU Fund board decision as the contribution of cooperatives to elimination of the impact of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Southern Osetia. We hope that this action will not only provide real help for those who suffered and turned a refugee in the Southern Osetia, but also contribute to the positive image of Russian financial cooperatives and unite them for dealing with important and socially relevant tasks.

The action will be reflected on the NU web site, on other Internet web sites and in the mass media. The information about the cooperatives and regional associations that transfer money to the Fund of support and the total sum gathered will be available on the NU web site. We propose to our colleagues and partners from national associations of financial coops and MFIs support the action «Financial cooperatives for elimination of the impact of the humanitarian catastrophe in the Southern Osetia!».
